Do you have customers wanting to start researching their family history but you don't know where to start? Join staff from the Midwest Genealogy Center as they give you tips and tricks on helping your customers get started on finding their family roots.

Instructors:

Janice Schultz is the Genealogy Librarian/Branch Manager of the Midwest Genealogy Center. She has held that position since August 2001. Janice has been employed with Mid-Continent Public Library since 1987. Ms. Schultz is involved with the ALA's Reference and User Services Division as Vice Chair/Chair Elect of the History Section as well as the History Section representative to RUSA's Membership Committee. She is President of the Missouri State Genealogical Association, and is involved in the local community through the Noland Road Lion's Club and Youth Friends.

Diana Watkins has been with the Midwest Genealogy Center for 8 years as a Reference Librarian/Archivist. She has an MLS from University of Missouri-Columbia, with a specialty in Archive Management. She belongs to the Heritage League of Greater Kansas City, and has been a past vice-president and past secretary of the Heritage League. When she is not playing with moldy old papers, she belongs to two quilting groups and the Embroiderer's Guild of America.

Cheryl Lang has been a Reference Librarian at the Midwest Genealogy Center since April 2010. She was previously director of the Albany (Mo) Carnegie Public Library for 13 years. She has an MLS from Emporia (Ks) State University and, from Webster University (St. Louis), a double major in Business Management and Computer Science. She is a member of the American Library Association, Missouri Library Association, and currently serves on the board of the Missouri State Genealogical Society. Cheryl has been doing her own genealogy for the past 30 years, and has a strong interest in providing better access to local histories, particularly in indexing and web delivery.
